Today I'm taking part in the blog tour for Animalympics and will begin by thanking Rachel of Rachel's Random Resources for the invitation to read and review this lovely children's story book, and also the author, Josie Dom, for a free hardback copy to review.
The blurb:
Animalympics
Woodpecker Will presents the Animalympics!
Whilst the humans stay indoors, the animal kingdom takes over to hold the sporting event of the century!
Join the golfing ostriches, trampolining moles and weight-lifting gorillas (plus many more) in a fun rhyming adventure for all ages.

My thoughts:
I was delighted to be invited to join the blog tour for Josie Dom's Animalympics as the blurb suggested a fun, and entertaining story for children. I loved the beautifully designed cover which made me feel like I was about to go on an adventure before I’d even opened the book. I also liked the idea of the animal kingdom holding their own Olympics. In this story, the animals are entertaining themselves while the human population is in lockdown, by competing in various sporting events. The animalympics mirrors our own Olympics. The whole event is so successful, and the animals have so much fun that the organiser, Woodpecker Will, suggests holding another games in two years; but next time during the winter so they can make use of the ice and snow.
This story is told in verse and the book is filled with charming and amusing illustrations. I particularly liked those depicting the animals taking part in the various sporting events.
I think Animalympics is a beautifully crafted storybook that will appeal to primary aged readers, and especially those who enjoy sports.
