Margaret's new romantic novel Christmas Wishes at the Station Bookshop is on a blog tour organised by Rachel of Rachel's Random Resources and Margaret has kindly answered a few more questions for my feature Interview with the Author.

Q1. Who is your favourite character in Christmas Wishes at the Station Bookshop and why?
That’s a really tricky question to narrow it down to just one. I guess I admire Lloyd for the way he keeps his family together even after things have been so hard for him.Q2. What do you like most about being an author?
Now that I’m a full-time author, I love being able to spend my days doing what I love. I enjoy managing my time and having the freedom to write when I want.Q3. What advice would you give other independently published authors?
Recognise yourself as a business manager! You’re not just an author, you’re a publisher, a marketer, and a company director. You wear all these hats and juggle so many roles. It’s hard work, but it’s worth it!Q4. Do you have other novels planned or in progress?
Always! I usually have one or two planned (even vaguely) by the time I finish the previous one. I have a whole new series building in my mind at the moment—set close to Glenbriar at a castle no less!Q5. Do you write novels in other genres?
I write ‘cosy’ romance and also steamy romance under a different penname. I also plan to write a historical romance in the future.Q6. When did you know you wanted to write romantic novels?
Because romance stories are the ones that always resonate with me the most. Whenever I watch or read anything in any genre, I’m always ‘shipping’ characters and willing romances to happen. It’s just who I am—a ‘virtual’ matchmaker. Even as a child, I romanced my Barbie dolls with Action Men (sorry, Ken!). And I suppose writing romances is an extension of that, just me playing with my characters!Q7. What advice do you have for other romantic novelists?
Make sure your covers match the story you’re writing! As soon as I nailed my covers, I found the right audience.Q8. What is the best advice you can give to any aspiring novelist?
Get feedback! It may seem terrifying at first, but it is truly the only way to really improve and learn.| Author Bio – Margaret Amatt |
