I am delighted to be taking part in the blog tour for Something in the Air in Pelican Crossing with a review. I have been thoroughly enjoying this series and have been looking forward to this particular story for some time now.
I begin, as always, by thanking Rachel of Rachel's Random Resources for the invitation to join the blog tour, and Maggie Christensen, the author, for a free digital copy of her book to review.

I have been really looking forward to reading Something in the Air in Pelican Crossing, as it's Rhana Black's story. Rhana is a character who has intrigued me in the earlier books in this series. She lives alone, apart from her dogs, on the outskirts of Pelican Crossing, and I've always felt she is a rather solitary character who would like to join in, but feels more comfortable watching from the side lines. The first chapter of this story tells me I was right, and I wanted to know why.
Something in the Air in Pelican Crossing is book eight in the Pelican Crossing series. Although it can be read as a standalone, I would recommend reading the series from the beginning - something I am still trying to do myself - as we meet and sometimes learn a bit more about some of the characters who have featured in the earlier stories. My absolute favourite character throughout this series has been old Agnes, the fey pelican lady, who, in my opinion, adds real value to each story with her unsolicited but sage advice. I'd love to know her backstory.
I find this series a very comforting read. I love the setting and the well-rounded characters have come to feel like old friends. I love being privvy to their individual stories, which are all well-conceived, touching and lovingly written.
Maggie Christensen's writing draws a picture of an almost idyllic place to live and work. It is blessed with supportive friendship groups, a strong community vibe and conveys the calm and healing nature of Pelican Crossing, where strangers are enthusiastically welcomed and allowed to integrate into the community at their own pace.
I thoroughly enjoyed Something in the Air in Pelican Crossing and would highly recommend it to readers who enjoy a later-in-life romance.
