I loved it! Crikey a Bodyguard had just the right amount of suspense and romance to keep my nose firmly glued to my e-reader! It was enthralling, entertaining, and impossible to put down!It tells the story of Dr Kelly Bridge, a young female scientist who is in the process of developing a vaccine for a variant of smallpox which might potentially be used by terrorists. Her parents are concerned for her safety and insist she has a bodyguard. Reluctantly she agrees, and they hire an ex-Special Forces operative, Ben Jacobs, to protect her.
At first, Kelly and Ben both think there is nothing to worry about. However, after a conference in Rome, Ben feels they are being watched, and, amid growing feelings for Kelly, is determined to protect her at all costs.
Being under close protection has provided Kelly with the opportunity to get to know Ben, and it's not long before they are aware that they have very strong feelings for each other. Ben puts this down to their situation, and resolutely refuses to believe that someone like the intelligent and pretty Kelly, could fall for him.
The danger ramps up once they are back in England, and Kelly is kidnapped at gunpoint right under Ben's nose.
How Ben saves Kelly, and finds the person responsible for her kidnapping, is elegantly told in this fabulous story.
I found Crikey a Bodyguard racier than A Little Christmas Charm which I read last year. The plot, I thought, was well-thought out, and was very plausible. I fell in love with the protective, considerate, cheeky Ben immediately, and was not at all surprised that Kelly fell for him too. I didn't like Kelly's colleague/boyfriend Dr Stuart Jennings from the get-go. There was no warmth to him, and I was surprised that after their dinner-date, when he'd done nothing but talk about work-related matters, he thought it was time for... well, more than a kiss on the cheek! The more I learned about Stuart, the less I liked him, and was glad that Kelly was beginning to think she was worth better than him.
Freeman had me entertained from start to finish, and yes, I'd award Crikey a Bodyguard 6 stars!
