My thoughts:
I have very much been looking forward to this book, number eight in the Little Duck Pond Café series. A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Café is a quick and enjoyable read with a happy ending.In contrast with the other books in this series, although A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Café is told in the first person, it is from three different points of view, that of Ellie, Fen and Jaz.
Naturally it's not all plain sailing, and each of the main characters has something to worry about, aside from the wedding. Their friendships are strong and despite their own concerns, they are there for each other.
There's a lot of humour in this story, and meeting up with the established characters was like coming home to old friends. Maisie and Maisie-Moo cause mayhem per usual, and I love Primrose Wilkins, who has settled into the village very nicely. A new character in this book, Layla, unkindly questions Primrose's relationship to Sylvia. It was not the question itself, just the way she phrased it that made me wince. But taking into account her age, and that Primrose, although hurt, still wants to be on good terms with Layla, I'll give her a second chance too.
Another character I have previously loved to hate is Madison. She seems to be growing on me now and I find myself smiling that the next book might see her in a burgeoning relationship.
A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Café is a romantic and heart-warming story where everything works out for the best in the end, and I am now eagerly awaiting the next book in this series.

Thankfully, Rosie has moved on somewhat, and now much prefers to write romantic comedies that melt your heart and make you smile, with really not much perilous danger involved at all - unless you count the heroine losing her heart in love. Rosie's brand new series of novellas is centred around life in a village café. The latest, 'Bonfires & Hot Chocolate at the Little Duck Pond Café', is out now. Watch out for 'A Winter Wedding at the Little Duck Pond Café', which will be published in December 2019. Rosie is also writing a full-length, standalone book for Christmas 2019, entitled 'Snowflakes over Moondance Cottage', which will be out in November. |
