I have recorded receiving this short story through Instafreebie which is now Prolific Works and probably downloaded it for the interesting blurb and Christmas theme.
As ever, I begin by thanking the author, D Allen for a free digital copy of his work too review.
The blurb:
Snow After ChristmasA chance moment. A snow storm. And the gift of a new beginning.
Tristan is ready to party and ring in the New Year by kissing his soon-to-be girlfriend, Julie. The only bad note in his rocking night is the growing snow storm. Outside his apartment, he's almost hit by Grace, the most beautiful woman with haunting green eyes. She's on her own mission to get home to her grandfather.
In a selfless act reminiscent of the age of knights and chivalry, Tristan vows to get her home...never realizing they are both on a date with destiny and their lives will be forever changed by the SNOW AFTER CHRISTMAS...
The protagonist, Tristan, was planning on going to a New Year's Eve party. The weather worsens and forces him to change his plans. At this point, he comes across Grace whose car has died in the snow storm. Tristan decides to help Grace get home despite not having transport. They walk through the heavy snow and through the kindness of strangers they make it, along the way building a friendship.
I thought this was an interesting story showing how fate can intervene and changes lives. Hoever, I didn't feel the story matched my expectation or deliver the dramatic storyline suggested in the blurb. It's a nice enough story told from a male prospective, but it didn't really hold my attention.
